Aloo people! How did your day go today? I hope it went well like mine... I had an experience today that took me dawn memory lane, and that is what i will be sharing with you today.
Was watching TV in the parlour today when Popsy (the bestest guy in the whole world) came in. He sat down and removed one of his shoe and then, he turned and saw me looking at him(i don't know why i was looking). And suddenly; like he just remembered, he stretched forth his second leg, and i just came and removed the second shoe. As i bent to remove it, sweet childhood memories just rushed back...
I remembered how me and my brothers used to struggle to catch his leg (like our lives depended on it) when he comes back from work, to be the one to remove his shoes. He would just sit down and stretch his legs-like he did today- and the lucky two-for he has only two legs and we were three then-will remove the shoes and take it to the room. It used to be so much fun growing up. Life used to be so much better, there used to be so much laughter everywhere, with lots of sharing and loving.
I remembered my little neighborhood too, somewhere around Polo Club in Sokoto.
How in the evenings, people will just gather outside;gisting, yabbing, laughing and living life.
Now, i dont get get to see those kind of scenes anymore. Is it because i have grown and don't take note of such simple treasures or is it because it has been replaced by fear, suspision and violence.Or is it because we have 'grown' as a people and feel we no longer need to laugh and love anymore? Hmm! i don't have answers to my questions oh, i don't know if you do? The only thing i know is that i long for those good old days. Life was simpler, easier and fun, and i wish we would just go back to the way we used to live, don't you?
If you read this and you remember any fun memory of you growing up that you feel we have lost, and you will like to see again, do share with me oh, here on the comment box.
Thanks for dropping by today again, love you.
Our world has lost its innocence. You have grown, but so has our world. We have replaced laughter with suspicion, love with hate, and trust with greed. Will such good old days come back again? Only in brief moments, like what you feel with a successful sneeze. Otherwise, such innocence will only be possible in God's promised New World, where righteousness is to dwell (2 Peter 3:13).
ReplyDeleteYou are right! Our world has lost its innocence.I mean, even the earth isn't as loving, accommodating and peaceful as it used to be-flood here, hurricane there... God's word coming to pass. Our only hope is to turn to Him, so we can partake of His promised New World. Thanks for dropping by, Zwakausu.
