Hippy!
Its our independence anniversary and we ought to be celebrating, singing, dancing and counting our achievements as a nation, as a people, but from the look of things, we are not.
I listen to 'analysts' on radio and TV and all i hear is how we are on the wrong, how we have done the wrong things and gotten the wrong results.Almost every Nigerian know what is wrong with us Nigeria,(as if Nigeria is one distant desolate place and not who we are and where we occupy. mtchhheew! I turn to the social media, the same thing is going on, this time, only worse, cause its the youths, the supposed leaders of today, that churn out insults, hate words and curse on Nigeria, instead of standing up to do something, no matter how little to better the lot of this GREAT country.
To be honest, i do not blame Nigerians for saying negative things and feeling distant from their own country. Nigeria is a blessed place by all standards, rich in human and natural resourceful and all citizens ought to be enjoying this blessing of God, but that is wishful thinking as a few individuals are bent on making that remain so, a dream that may never come to pass, if Nigerians do not do something about it. Nigerians have suffered and are still suffering not much from lack of resources as from lack of good governance and abundance of bad leadership. Because of that singular singular reason(lack of good governance), i join other Nigerian citizens to say this 52years is a 'waste' because after all these long years, we have 'nothing' to show for it.
That, however, is where my similarity with most Nigerians stop. I have hope, most of my country people do not. i see a better tomorrow, most of them don't. I am contributing my own quota, majority of my country people don't. Yes! i see a better future and i believe better days are far ahead. So i urge you to become blind to the countless things that are going wrong and see the bigger picture, but i must warn, there will be no bigger picture, no brighter tomorrow if we remain our corrupt, tribalistic, selfish old self.
For there to be any change or better still, if we desire to enjoy the blessings that God has heaped on us, we must have a change of attitude, we must become responsible for our actions and inaction as citizens of this GREAT country.
Lets stop the hating, lets stop the cursing and start the changing.
Think right, talk right and act right. Happy Independence anniversary people.
I love 9ja but God loves her more.
"I have hope... I see a better tomorrow... I am contributing my quota... Let's stop the hating, let's stop the cursing and start the changing. Think right, talk right and act right... I love 9ja but God loves her more...." Wow! Such great, insightful words! This is easily the best & most relevant commentary I've read about Nigeria this year. Well done Tongryang Pantu. I pray that all Nigerians have & demonstrate this patriotic mindset founded on true faith in God & His love for this country. Nigeria is truly great!
